I felt the itch to play Diablo 2 again so I went and installed Battle.net in Heroic. It failed with Heroic’s “Proton GE (latest) " (whatever that means) but it worked with Proton GE 10.25.
Valve put out another small Beta to fix up an issue with the new Steam Deck screen-off downloads, and some other Desktop Linux fixes that came recently.
I noticed my OLED’s fan was running a lot more than it used to, even at lower wattage amounts (~18w). At first I just assumed it was dirty fan/thermal paste, but I cleaned my fan and repasted my APU and it didn’t reallt change anything.
I have to get on a very long flight here soon for work with a layover in the middle, and I want to make sure my Deck is up to the task. Does anyone have a battery pack they love?
The biggest steam deck compatibility issue is that the multiplayer mode wasn’t supported. From what I understand that hasn’t changed, but they moved it to a separate free DLC so it won’t affect the steam deck rating.
Edit: The video of that’s the original source of the test results had flawed testing for some of the games and seemingly didn’t set the same tdp limits when switching between the OSs. I’m guessing we’ll see other people test this out later, but for the time being it’s best to assume these results are exaggerated or wrong.

A few days back I shared a post asking for suggestions on what PS2 games people here might recommend I play. Having not been one who played PS2 at any stage (it was a bit before my time), my experience with the systems and games is slightly limited.
Does anyone know what could be causing my Deck to wake up? I’m thinking it has to do with the new feature to wake on Bluetooth activation, but the controllers are not even on when this happens.
(SOLUTION: I just figured out the problem and the solution, So uh simply my steam deck OLED dosent give enough power to the keyboard, To fix this, ill connect my deck charger to my docking station 24/7 to give the dock enough power)
I’m getting deckyloader up & running but it only seems to keep 4 plugins installed. I am install more but they don’t show up in the plugin menu. Is that normal?
I turned my Steam Deck on tonight and the SD card just insisted it needed to be reformatted. After restarting a few times and reinserted the card it still wouldn’t come back so I gave in and formatted it. Now For the King 2 won’t install to my internal drive - when I click install it warns me that the game is installed on a drive that isn’t connected, gives me an error message at 4% and if I click Resume it apparently fully installs, but then the game won’t start, it tries to load and then just stops again and the Steam Cloud refuses to sync.
I tried to launch a game from Heroic on the Deck for the first time in a month or so and it’s loading for a few seconds and then exiting.
* Same from game mode or desktop
* Same for different proton versions
* Same for Epic, GOG, and Amazon games
* Same after reinstalling a game
* Other Steam and non-Steam games run fine
I got through phases of games, and right now I’m in the one I like to think of everything-modern-is-making-me-angry-so-I’ll-turn-back-to-vintage-games - and that’s in the form of PCSX2 on my Steam Deck.
Basically Larian is working on a native Linux version of BG3, and that got accidentally set as the default even though it's not yet in a launchable state.
