About 2 months ago, a Supreme court judge called the students of India cockroaches, and someone made a website and social media handles named Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), janta meaning public. This started as a joke and they even had a manifesto. Then soon, some people starting blaming the Indian Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, for some exam paper leaks, leading to postponing some exams, major one of them being NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test which is an entrance exam for medical institutes in India). This is a major exam, a lot of parents take huge loans for their kids, and kids remain under extreme pressure throughout the year. And this postponing lead to 20 students committing suicide.

“One-Year-Old Boy Killed After Officer Fires at Vehicle in Mississippi,” said the New York Times headline (6/16/26). So, a “one-year-old boy”—what most people would call a baby—was “killed after” a police officer fired at a vehicle, but there’s no verb you could use to connect those two things?

The X post showed police detaining a teen at a Walmart after managers asked for her vest back. The video captured officers repeatedly urging the teen to hand over the vest and leave peacefully.

On Wednesday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained a U.S.-born woman at a checkpoint in a residential area of Lafayette. 

“Mr. Castro fired his service weapon at the front door of the home, knowing there were people inside who presented absolutely no threat to him or anyone else,” Moriarty said. “That bullet punched through the front door and struck Mr. Sosa-Celis’ leg before traveling through a closet and lodging in the wall of a child’s bedroom.”

Philadelphia police have broad authority to revoke gun licenses, including for failing to properly secure their weapons, associating with people convicted of felonies, or — in the group’s case — for “good cause,” per city correspondence obtained by Axios.
