It's a YouTube video by Fern about the former special agency called "Stasi" in East Germany. It goes into detail about various practices the Stasi used to spy on and even harm targets, including German citizens. I think it's quite informative; I encourage everyone interested in government surveillance to watch it. I grew up in the gdr and I’m still in disbelief how everyone seems to be totally fine with giving their information to every company that asks for it.
so many people are cool with putting an always listening alexa device in their home and even pay for it.

Yes, it really is absurd. Whenever I hear this kind of attitude, I’m always reminded of this apt quote from Edward Snowden, who certainly knows exactly what he’s talking about:

“Arguing that you don’t care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don’t care about free speech because you have nothing to say.”
