This week I've been mainly reading, No. 248.
Adrian Duncan's elegiac novella The Gorgeous Inertia of the Earth (2025) is both a love poem to Bologna related by a narrator as flaneur & a melancholy meditation on loss. Not a lot happens but it remans compelling in its depiction of the inner life of its protagonist. Its a quiet & well-written narrative that really invokes what it is to be alive to your surroundings. A very satisfying, if short, read

@ChrisMayLA6 @bookstodon I think you meant Bologna - not Bolognia! The city is a bit topical in Italy at the moment thanks to a particularly vicious act of terrorism by the violent far right.
