And this doesn't seem like a perverse incentive to anyone approving this arrangement? Fuck it, I've got an AI that will automatically reject 100% of claims and it's got minimal overhead.
Unless the law changes, these companies won't. You can kill half their CEOs, it won't change how they operate.
Wait, this is about Medicare, government-backed healthcare. JFC.
gee - what could possibly go wrong?
I can't think of anything. I'm confident that each case will be assessed fairly and impartially. You can definitely trust the current US government to prioritise your best interests.
would they by chance be willing to just shoot us instead?
What? Like, what the actual fuck?! You are inventivizing machines to deny service because it will make their tech daddies money?! That is beyond fucked if it actually works like that in any capacity. Get the insurance industry out of healthcare
Sure, let's give AI bros even more power, and monetary incentive to automatically reject as many health claims as possible, what could go wrong?
Financially incentivize killing people. That sounds like a great idea.
function onReceivedClaim(LifesavingProcedureClaim claim) {
sleep(30);
return reject(claim);
}
Where do I collect my share?
No, you need to also store basic information for auditing information...
count++ needs to be added in there somewhere so that you know how much you're supposed to be paid.
Bonus points... store ALL sensitive information so you can sell it to someone else for even more money!
This is where I point out that Americans pay more per capita into Medicare/Medicaid than Canadians pay per capita for universal healthcare for everyone.
I think the incentive here is to program the AI to search for reasons to deny healthcare. I wouldn't waste any time analyzing actual healthcare needs.

Trump wants AI Death Panels. Tell everyone you know
I hadn't realized the reason the GOP hated Death Panels was because they were made of people who might have hearts and compassion.
can we just have fucking healthcare, please?
As if the US healthcare system wasn't dystopian enough, with the current administration you are going to get the opposite of healthcare.

Right after you, ml
The real "death panels."
It's always projection.
And here's why one of Trumps first executive orders was that LLM's can make medical diagnoses. What a shock.
RIP
Wow fuck, even government-owned insurance is getting scummy. This kinda proof insurance is never an option as a universal healthcare stand-in. Every time people claim some country have universal healthcare but as an insurance scheme, there will always be mites under it.
Fucking calling the program "WISeR" as if they have gotten wiser than to just help people who are sick.
Fucking ghouls.
I'm sure this wont create any negative incentives at all..
