@Salvo Zionism can be traced to Puritan England, around the turn of the 17th century. It was essentially a way to rid England of its Jews. A form of antisemitism, two centuries before that term was coined.England had a resurgence of Zionism early in the 19th century, when dispensationalism added the return of Jesus and the rapture to the belief system.
